Can I customize the rear on a 2022 Pan America 1250?

Title says it. I'm thinking of removing the grab bar and trimming the seat pan but want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything.

You can absolutely customize the rear on your '22 PA1250. Just make sure it won't mess with the mounting points or stability. You don't wanna end up with a wobbly ride instead of a sleek one! @cjjjjjjjj

Good to know, thanks! I'll keep an eye on the mounting points and stability. A wobbly ride would throw a wrench in my plans. (Ha ha ha)

Nothing ruins a ride like a setup that's more "hope than hardware."

I've already started working on the customization and so far, it's looking clean. No zip ties in sight (just careful planning and clean cuts). I'll keep you updated as it comes together!

ofc you can! a little tip for you, removing the grab bar is easier. Trim seat is harder, consider aftermarket seats first. Be mindful of lights, wiring, luggage, and resale. Research thoroughly before cutting

Thanks a lot! Already started on the grab bar removal and it's shaping up clean without throwing off stability. Seat trim's next but I'm keeping resale and wiring in mind. Looking at aftermarket options before I take the blade to it. You ever done any custom rear setups on your PA1250?

Hey, sorry for jumping in late! I haven't had a chance to modify the rear on my 1250 yet, but I think keeping the factory mounting points is a smart move for resale value. You should check out some websites, there are folks out there creating really nice luggage setups that keep the stock look when you take them off.

Hey there, thanks for your thoughts on my older project thread. It's notable you mentioned resale value, as another member did. It's clearly important to owners. I removed the rear grab bar and installed a slim tail tidy, which cleaned up the bike's lines. After considering advice on seats, I found a low-profile solo seat that gave me the look I wanted without cutting the original pan, so all stock components are saved.
