Center stand rubbing on my vance and hines exhaust

A few months ago, I had the dealer install a Vance & Hines high-output slip-on, and now the center stand hits the pipe when it's in the "up" position. I hear a loud clacking sound when lifting the bike, and there's barely any clearance between the two parts. There's already a rust spot where the stand strikes the pipe, and it's driving me nuts. Anyone figured out how to fix this or get more clearance? I could use some tips

Since the dealer installed the slip-on, I think it's better to give them a shout first? Maybe they can check if it's a known issue or maybe they made a mistake during installation?

Ah, the ol' center stand tango with the slip on, my friend kinda had the same issue a while back, I didn't follow her up too well tho, now I wish I did at least I woulda been able to help you adequately, but from the bits and pieces I can remember from convo is that she added a little rubber bumper where the stand contacts, not too sure, I'd have to come back to this

Yeah, I'm gonna call them, I just wanted to see if anyone else dealt with it first....it could be an install issue or poor fitment, either way, it's super annoying

A rubber bumper sounds like it could help with the clearance issue,I'll give that a shot if the dealer doesn't have a quick fix

Yeah, this is a common issue with V&H but it's not an isolated case, it's pretty usual among slip-ons that are aftermarket. Try checking if the center stand bumper has been removed or misaligned, so if yeah I bet you can just add a rubber stopper.

Hey @Nonye9 I'm just following up on this thread. The advice about hitting up your dealer and checking that center stand bumper was definitely good stuff. I once had a similar aftermarket pipe issue on an old bike of mine, so I'm curious if you got that V&H clearance fixed up.

Thanks for following up, so yeah I checked with the dealer and inspected the center stand bumper, I am still figuring out the best fix, but I'm considering some heat shielding or a spacer to get clearance

Looks like you're on the right track. If heat shielding is the plan, make sure it's rated for direct contact and won't trap moisture wouldn't want that rust spot growing. A spacer could do the trick too, but have you checked if adjusting the spring tension or adding a bumper extension would help? Some riders have had luck with aftermarket rubber bumpers that create enough cushion to prevent metal-on-metal contact. Curious if the dealer had any other suggestions or if they left you to figure it out.
