After a year, I really regret buying the Harley-Davidson sport bags, I mean they worked okay at first, but within two months, the locks got hard to use especially the left one. I tried fixing it, but it didn't help much. They also leaked in the rain and cracked when my friend dropped his bike. HD wouldn't replace them after 30 days, and I spent over $600, so it is definitely not worth it.

That's a fairly common story. These OEM bags are just basic ABS plastic which explains why they cracked so easily. For that price, you could get Bumot Defender EVOs made from 2mm aluminum that will survive a drop and have a much more robust locking system. Are you wanting to stick with hard cases or have you considered high spec soft bags from a brand like Mosko Moto?
